Appearance:

Adults may reach 1' in length. Color varies from glossy gray to black or brown. Pink belly extends up the sides. Flattened head and short tail.

Notes:

Rarely seen above ground. Eats earthworms, and other soft-bodied insects. Can be found under logs, leaf litter and in loose soil.
